Abstract:

Electrical burns have been recognised for nearly 300 years. Electrical burns are a common condition with high morbidity, complex pathology and difficult treatment. Deep electrical burn wounds are mainly repaired with different types of flaps, including reticular vascular flaps, chain vascular flaps, vascular perforator flaps and axial-pattern flap, with pedicled or free graft repairing options depending on the donor-recipient area. Electrical burns are graded according to the location and degree of injury, then the appropriate timing and repair method is be chosen. Electrical burns are clean wounds in the early stages because of the thermal damage, and early thorough debridement, timely re-establishment of blood flow and effective coverage by flaps are key points. Especially they can obtain better functional and appearance reconstructions with repairing by free flaps.
