Abstract:

Metabolic disorder and persistent hypermetabolic are the main metabolic characteristics of severe burned patients. As an essential component of systems biology, metabonomics aims at the comprehensive and quantitative analysis of wide arrays of metabolites in biological samples. Recently metabonomics has been widely employed in burn-wound clinical research areas, including injury evaluation, effect judgements, personalized medicine and biomarker discovery etc. This paper reviews the concept and methodologies of metabonomics, as well as the latest research advances of metabonomics in the diagnosis and treatment of burn injury.
