Abstract:

Because the special condition of severe burn, the patients generally have varying degrees of psychological disorders such as anxiety, depression and fear. These psychological problems affect the therapeutic efficacy and physiological indices of patients. And the physiological changes in turn aggravate the patients′ negative moods, which are extremely detrimental to the treatment of their condition. Severe burn patients not only need a good physiotherapy program, but also need psychological support for treatment. There are many commonly used approaches to clinical psychotherapy, most of which require frequent communication between therapists and patients or adequate massage touch. However, the majority of patients with burns are in an immobilized state, who can hardly communicate with the therapists effectively. Relaxing them by massage measures is even more difficult. Music therapy, which can be implemented only by requiring patients to have a certain hearing ability, is a very suitable psychological treatment for patients with burns. In recent years, some progress has been made in the application of music therapy in holistic therapy of burn patients, demonstrating some clinical efficacy. This paper reviews the recent literature concerning the application of music therapy in the overall treatment of burn patients, in order to provide a reference for psychotherapy of clinical burn patients, and to offer ideas for further research on the efficacy of music therapy in holistic therapy of burn patients.
