Abstract:

This article bases on the analysis of epidemic data of pediatric burns in China, it is believed that there is an increasing trend in pediatric burns. Publicity and education on the common sense of prevention and treatment of pediatric burns should be strengthened. Children within 3 years old are high-risk population of pediatric burns, even if medium and small area burns may be complicated with wound sepsis. The treatment of burns in infants and young children within 3 years old should be taken seriously. Through literature review and author′s experience, the importance of early cryotherapy of burned areas is emphasized, and that comprehensive evaluation, dynamic observation and prudent judgment of the burn depth are suggested. The early application of negative pressure wound therapy for small area wounds with Ⅱ degree burn in children is recommended. It is also proposed that individualized fluid resuscitation should be performed according to the basic principles of pediatric surgical fluid therapy and refer to the formula of pediatric burn fluid resuscitation.
