Abstract:

On the occasion of celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, I am privileged to give a brief introduction of my life of being a doctor. I was born in 1936 to a poor family, while the Chinese people were bullied by both the Japanese invaders and the Kuomintang government. I was lucky to attend school when people′s livelihood was improved after the establishment of the People′s Republic of China. I was admitted to Beijing Medical College in 1957. After graduation, I was assigned to the Department of Burns, People′s Liberation Army General Hospital in 1962, where I was trained by my first tutor Professor Sheng Zhiyong, an academician of Chinese academy of engineering. Thanks to many years of training from the Party, our great hospital and my tutor, I achieved some renown as a burn specialist. For decades in clinical work, while I was devoted to clinic work, I attached great importance to medicine education and research. Advances were made in the fields of burn shock, infection, nutrition, wound repair, rehabilitation and reconstructive surgery. In particular, I made prominent contribution to the following fields: the shock stage resuscitation, hemodynamic monitoring, to set up the "304th hospital transfusion formula" , escharectory during shock stage and outstanding contributions in promoting burn rehabilitation.
