Abstract:

Objective

To explore the application effect of situational simulation teaching based on the ADDIE model in training for junior nurses on the transport of critically ill patients.

Methods

Between July and August 2023, a convenient sampling method was employed to select 54 junior nurses from Affiliated Ruijin Hospital, School of Medicine, Shanghai Jiao Tong University as research subjects. The nurses were divided into control group and experimental group based on different teaching methods. The control group received traditional specialized teaching methods, while the experimental group was taught using situational simulation teaching based on the ADDIE model. A comparison was made between the two groups in terms of evaluation of the training effectiveness of the teaching models, theoretical and practical scores in critically ill patient transport-related knowledge, self-assessment, and the rate of non-compliance with transport nursing measures.

Results

Compared to the control group, junior nurses in the experimental group rated higher training effectiveness of the teaching model in terms of the overall score and individual dimensions, achieved higher scores in both theoretical and practical aspects of critically ill patient transport-related knowledge, and had higher self-assessment scores in both the overall evaluation and individual dimensions, while the rate of non-compliance with transport nursing measures was lower. The differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).

Conclusion

The situational simulation teaching based on the ADDIE model can effectively enhance the theoretical knowledge and emergency skills of junior nurses in transport of critically ill patients, and improve self-assessment and compliance rate in the execution of transport nursing measures.
