Abstract:

Skin flap-like wounds or injuries are common in emergency trauma, but relevant research papers rarely report the definition, classification and their repair methods. A flap-like wound refers to the discontinuity and damage of the structure of superficial soft tissue caused by oblique external forces, with the appearance that one side of the tissue connected to the base of the wound by a pedicle and the rest sides detached, which is similar to a local skin flap designed in general plastic surgery. Depending on the shapes, flap-like wounds can be subdivided into triangle, U-shaped and erose flap-like wounds. Besides, they can be divided into reverse flap-like wounds and anterograde flap-like wounds according to the direction of blood supply of the flaps. And in accordance with the cause of the wounds, flap-like wounds are composed of incised flap-like wounds, contused flap-like wounds and lacerated flap-like wounds. Most flap-like wounds are irregular in shape with poor blood supply. These flaps of wounds are prone to avascular necrosis if wounds are debrided and sutured simply, and the scar hyperplasia and contracture of the wound surfaces will not avoid affecting the appearance. In this article, the authors expound the definition of common flap-like wounds and their repairing methods systematically.
