Abstract:

Collagen has the excellent characteristics of low immunogenicity, good biocompatibility and biodegradability. Collagen-based biomaterials can accelerate the formation and remodeling of extracellular matrix by promoting the proliferation, differentiation and secretion of various cells in the skin, thus promoting wound healing. In addition, they can absorb wound exudate, maintain a moist environment, shield mechanical damage, and prevent secondary bacterial infections, conforming to the requirement of ideal dressings. Thus, they are widely used in wound management. In this article the characteristics of various collagen-based dressings and their application progress in wound repair were generally reviewed to provide references for further research and application of collagen-based dressings.
